Usually, there are two or three readings on a pulse oximeter:

  1. SPO2 — Blood Oxygen Saturation
  2. PR — Pulse Rate
  3. PI — Perfusion Index

What is SPO2?

Oxygen saturation (SpO2) measures how much oxygen your blood carries in comparison to its full capacity. It means how much oxygen the hemoglobin in your blood contains compared to how much it could contain. The Finger pulse oximeter represents this measurement by showing a simple percentage. So if your red blood cells contain 95% oxygenated and 5% non-oxygenated hemoglobin, your SpO2 would be 95%.

What is PR?

The Pulse Rate (PR) measures how many times your heart beats per minute.

What is PI(Perfusion Index)?

The normal perfusion index (PI) ranges from 0.02% to 20% showing weak to strong pulse strength.
